As we move into the next phase of school re-opening, we will continue to ensure we protect the health and safety of our staff and children. Please read this information carefully and discuss the detail with your children ahead of them coming into school.

When will the children return to school?

All children will be returning to school at Newton Aycliffe in September; however, we will be staggering the start days for each year group. When the children return to school, they will not be following the routines and movement around school that they would usually. Staggered start dates are necessary to ensure each year group is introduced to school safely and so we can reassure the children.

How will children be organised during the school day and in the school building?

There will be a staggered start and end to the school day to ensure that all children can enter and exit the school buildings safely, enabling social distancing as much as possible. Year groups will be zoned to certain areas of the school. The timetable below details the times of each year group’s school day.

The children will be kept in zoned year group bubbles as much as possible. Years 7 are likely to remain in one classroom for most of their lessons.

Each year group will have a separate break and lunchtime; breakfast club will still be available and will be zoned for each year group. Breakfast Club will be open from 8.15am in the dining hall.

Each year group will also have their own designated toilet. All Year 7 students will have time to be outside in the fresh air at lunchtime. Their designated area is the Top Yard. Students will be expected to wear full uniform in September. Students will need to bring trainers for PE.
